In 2023, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projected that the demand for HVAC technicians would grow by 6 percent — above the average growth rate for all occupations. If you have struggled to find a plumber, electrician or car mechanic to quickly fix a problem for you, you have first-hand knowledge about the nationwide shortage of skilled trade professionals.

Libraries are frequently a source of information for individuals seeking jobs, exploring careers or changing professions. While we are doing solid work in supporting college-bound students and emerging entrepreneurs, an opportunity exists to do more to help individuals who are not pursuing college degrees — those who want to find meaningful work that pays more than a living wage.

In this webinar, participants will:

  • Gain an overview of the skilled trades ecosystem
  • Hear from two skilled trade professionals about their entrepreneurial journey
  • Learn how libraries can help address the critical shortage of skilled trade professionals
