Monitoring justice: You might not have heard of Court Watch NOLA, but if you’ve spent much time in Orleans Criminal Court you might have noticed the bright yellow clipboards and lanyards. The nonprofit trains volunteers to document how criminal justice is playing out in the city, Jillian Kramer reports.
Roadblock: The Planning Commission in St. Tammany Parish recently gave its nod to an ambitious parish-government plan earmarking a handful of areas to become industrial corridors. Some residents fighting that plan now say the parish is throwing up roadblocks to quiet their objections.
The good fight: Les Bonano, long associated with boxing – and New Orleans – died on Sunday at age 79. Bonano, inducted into the New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame last year, had an incredibly interesting life, Ted Lewis reports.
