'It's so hot ...': Summer weather about to get worse in Baton Rouge

Weather forecasters say Baton Rouge is about to head into a six-day stretch with high temperatures over 100 degrees, starting Sunday. The streak would be tied for the third-longest streak in recorded history, according to the National Weather Service.

While the normal average temperature for July in Baton Rouge is 82.6 degrees, this month has seen an average daily temperature of 87.6 degrees — largely due to particularly hot mornings.

Filling your need to see LSU play football in person, United Airlines is adding direct flights to and from Baton Rouge for a handful of Tigers games this season.

The airline is adding 127 new direct flights as a whole for the upcoming college football season.

To address a growing trend of "excessive out-of-cart trash" that has been taking place throughout Baton Rouge, the mayor’s office has announced extra routes to collect the accumulated refuse.

"My ultimate goal regardless is that I'm committed to cleaning up our community and having a clean community,” said Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome.
