It takes courage to be civil, doesn’t it?

Dear friend,

Our culture is in a bad place right now. You know it. I know it. We all do. Everywhere we look, Americans seem to be tearing one another apart. Worse yet, many Christians seem to be all too willing to engage in this behavior. It can be disheartening for those of us who care about civility.

In the midst of unimaginable division, President Abraham Lincoln once reminded all Americans, “We are not enemies, but friends. We must be friends.” As believers, we take heart in the words found in Ephesians 2 that tell us that we can overcome walls of hostility. We know it is possible to be both civil and courageous for our principles at the same time.

That is our aim in 2019. Will you stand with us in the coming year by making a tax-deductible contribution of $25, $50, or $100 right now?

In fact, we feel so strongly about this that we have decided to focus next year’s entire annual conference on the subject. Next October, we will be hosting top Christian leaders and thinkers to help us understand what it means to have gospel courage in a polarized age. In a moment where people are searching for a different way to engage in the public square, we think this will be an important event for our culture.
