J Taylor's Gold & Energy StocksCorporate News Links & Commentary for Thursday, May 9
Gold and silver have moved much more than the miners of those metals. But the great Michael Oliver and his work titled “Spreads that Speak.” He makes a compelling case that our day as investors in the mining shares is just getting under way and that the silver shares are likely to outperform the miners of gold though both should do exceptionally well if Michael is right in his view that we are starting the “acceleration phase” of this bull market. I strongly suggest you consider a subscription to Michaels fantastic work. Go to OliverMSA.comto learn more. Spreads that Speak“MSA has made the case that a positive shift in the performance of gold miners vs. gold and of silver vs. gold will be a further, major thumbs-up that the monetary metals complex is in fact in its acceleration phase—and that such a phase was also clear late in prior major gold bull trends, such as from late 2010 to mid-2011 and also in 1979. So much of the bull market’s net price gain was contained in that latter phase that it nearly dwarfed all that had occurred in the earlier years of those trends. For the GDX vs. Gold spread, last month’s close was at 1.438% (GDX’s price as measured vs. gold’s). We’d specified a breakout as 1.45%. The April close just missed our number. However, now into May we have a reading today that is 1.495%, intramonth. J Taylor's Gold Energy & Tech Stocks is a reader-supported publication. MSA suggests that the intramonth action is likely valid enough not to wait for that final close (fifteen trading days hence). “Our specified breakout for the silver vs. gold spread was a monthly close at 1.21% or higher. The current intramonth reading is 1.214%. We suspect this is going to break out as well, but it’s only marginal at this point, intramonth.” If you want actionable metrics like those shown above that Michael provides not just for precious metals but for virtually all the major markets I strongly suggest you consider signing up for his letter at OliverMSA.Com Todays Headlines & linksHere are headlines that appeared today for companies covered in J Taylor’s Gold, Energy & Tech Stocks today.
