We need somebody who's got the heart, the empathy, to recognize what it's like to be a young teenage mom, the empathy to understand what it's like to be poor or African-American or gay or disabled or old - and that's the criterion by which I'll be selecting my judges.

rantnrave:// NETFLIX and more Netflix: If you haven't seen AVA DUVERNAY’s documentary 13TH, you must. The film explores race in the UNITED STATES criminal justice system. Netflix has "granted public screening access... for classrooms, community groups, book clubs, and other educational settings." Absolutely love this. Bravo. It's a powerful film. In a public educational setting, likely even more powerful. Would like to see this more often. Mentioned this idea a few times to my friends at ESPN. EZRA EDELMAN's O.J.: MADE IN AMERICA is a masterpiece. For those that haven't seen, it's not really about the murders. It's about race in America. Another epic that would do well in a similar setting. The best thriller of last year was a doc. ALEX GIBNEY's cyber warfare examination, ZERO DAYS . Also great for a public discussion. All this reminds me how much I love documentaries. Much of my viewing on streaming services is spent watching them. I've watched 100 hours of WORLD WAR II IN COLOR. Another 100 hours watching THE UNTOLD HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES. In addition to Netflix, HBO and SHOWTIME have many great ones... My friends JOHN MASON and ROB GOLDBERG, like me, are both big fans of AARON SORKIN's THE WEST WING. They are also both, like me, completely down about our political environment. Many, like me, are binge-watching on Netflix (via AMAZON FIRE STICK as I travel) all over again just to feel good. To feel positive. Like seeing an old best friend... I'm in ASPEN skiing for a few days and seeing ADAM SANDLER and DAVID SPADE perform tonight. Comedy warming my soul darkened by politics. Presented by? Netflix!... The ironic narrative has been the kid that couldn't connect with people builds the greatest platform for connection in the history of the world and in the process divides us more than ever before. ZUCK has some thoughts... The same people telling TRUMP he just did a great job at the press conference also similarly praised JENNIFER LOPEZ and BEN AFFLECK on the release of GIGLI. We're addicted to watching our own nightmare. I. Just. Can't. It's not funny. It's our greatest tragedy. And decent people will hold all the motherf***ers that put him there and enable him accountable... "Why Liberals Are Wrong About Trump"... Happy Birthday to MORGAN WANDELL, JAY FAIRES, ROBERT VECSLER and MINDY HERMAN.

Why These 'Revolutionary' '80s Gadgets Totally Failed
by Alex Cranz
Besides bad hair, pleated jeans, and 21 Jump Street, the ‘80s brought us a remarkable technological revolution. Nintendo changed the living room forever with the introduction of the NES in 1985. IBM, Apple, and the Commodore 64 ushered the personal PC into our lives. Even the internet breathed a few gasps of air with NFSNet and the rise of the teen hacker.
