American doesn't look so beautiful right now

rantnrave:// I am not someone who has been political or followed politics. This year is different. I've haven't decided on a candidate to support yet. But I'm so scared by the climate I cannot hold my tongue anymore. PEGGY NOONAN does a great job of explaining the supporters of DONALD TRUMP and the frustration with party politics and the establishment many legitimate supporters have. I understand it. LOUIS CK did a great job of verbalizing what many feel: "...that voting for Trump is a way of saying "f*** it. F*** them all". I really get it. It's a version of national Suicide..." Many thought he was funny. Including me at first. Like the election cycle version of PUCK from MTV's REAL WORLD sticking his finger in the peanut butter. I don't know what TRUMP the man is really like. I don't think we know. I don't hate him. Don't wish him ill will. Seems to be a family man. I suspect he isn't the man we see as it relates to issues. I don't think he's a NAZI. But that doesn't even matter to me. That his rhetoric would incite, divide and instigate the venom, vitriol, and violence that we've seen is unspeakable to me. RACHEL MADDOW brilliantly points out the escalation of aggression in this piece. The fact that he would insult Americans and call them "those people" is unspeakable to me. Open hostility towards the rest of the world. Unspeakable to me. Do other candidates divide? Yes. Does status quo party politics need disruption? Yes. The play on hate with overtones of violence via strongman bully talk and arrogant dismissiveness. Unspeakable. His opponents have been equally disgusted and call him names like "fraud" have publicly stated they would support his candidacy if he won the nomination. Unspeakable to me if that's really how they feel. His campaign whether from the hip or deliberate strategy has turned out to be brilliant. And yes, it's caught onto something that is happening in America whether we like it or not. Read Noonan, she explains it. Sadly, in a free America, we still have not gotten beyond racism, classism, sexism, separation of church and state, poverty, political corruption and more ills that have resulted in the desperation of many. I believe Trump will move to the middle if he wins the nomination. And possibly at his own peril. His supporters are angry and many beyond intolerant. And when he betrays them too, watch out. Yes, his tone may change to be more moderate. But what does he really think? If it's what he's publicly said. Unspeakable. If not and we don't know. Maybe even more scary. People with constitutions, empathy and thought for the well-being of all deserve to be in office. That's the dream. Not ones that are so reckless for their own gain that they pour gasoline on the fire. All politicians do it to a certain extent. But this is different. And don't be mistaken. Trump is now a politician. Beware of false prophets who actually now wear wolf's clothing. I've led a fortunate life and can't claim to fully understand all of the reasons for this phenomenon. But as a student of history I can see the signs of what no peace loving person wants to happen. Certainly not in a country that is the greatest societal "idea" in the history of mankind even if our execution leads much to be desired. We need a correction, that's for sure. But it's not Trump. I'm a liberal guy. I'm in favor of living your life the way you want as long as you don't hurt anyone. Looking out for each other. I'm in a funk over this. I think I need to watch a good FRANK CAPRA movie. Maybe all of us do to remind us of the good in AMERICA. We all have to live together with the decisions coming soon... Happy Birthday to JEFF WACHTEL, DANIELLA RICH, DAVID COHN, DANNY FISHMAN and MARSHALL COHEN.

Inside Instacart's fraught and misguided quest to become the Uber of groceries

In the Age of Google DeepMind, Do the Young Go Prodigies of Asia Have a Future?
by Dawn Chan
Choong-am Dojang is far from a typical Korean school. Its best pupils will never study history or math, nor will they receive high-school diplomas. The academy, which operates above a bowling alley on a narrow street in northwestern Seoul, teaches only one subject: the game of Go, known in Korean as baduk and in Chinese as wei qi.
