| rantnrave:// We all think we know what we're interested in. We all have conscious and subconscious prejudices and they can lead to misunderstanding, ignorance and stunt personal growth. The idea behind REDEF came from the realization that I like to be put in uncomfortable situations so I can learn. Exposure to topics I'd normally dismiss so I can learn. Specifically reading, watching and listening to things I agree with and more importantly those I don't agree with to get the full range of discussion. So I can learn. The diversity of ideas shape my perspective and fuel my creativity. It's a quest, but never perfect. I can still be biased. As pointed out here over the many months of suffering the venom unearthed and catalyzed by the TRUMP campaign. It's not just about knowledge but also about pleasure. Music, food, movies, books, television. I want to make sure I don't get "taste freeze". REDEF's motto is "it's not enough to be smart, you have to be curious". My Mom always pushed me to ask "why?" And that's why we create these interest remixes for curious minds... I want a nation full of people like this little girl. Not the mean and nasty I'm seeing more of each day. You know who... I don't eat sushi a lot, but when I do I basically want to eat it 3 times a day for about a week. Reminds me of TONY SOPRANO's fixation... Founder/CEO frustrations: You are the catalyst, but can't be the only engine... I have lots of debates around live music experiences. Mostly related to the use of devices by fans. All those phones pointing at the stage so that you can share the experience and prove you were there. But are you "really" there? It's reality, no going back (or is it this). Some artists can't stand this. Does this PORTLANDIA episode imagine the future of concerts? The absentee concertgoer?...
