| rantnrave:// REDEF is about conviction... I accept that DONALD TRUMP will be POTUS. It's actually a stupid statement. It happened. I'm in disbelief but there are many reasons and happenstances why it happened. I watch ALEC BALDWIN and KATE MCKINNON on SNL and I truly think their take is not far from the truth. I'm amazed (and not) at of cast of characters Trump has surrounded himself with. And again, in a further devaluation of the office of the PRESIDENT he's tweeting at those that ridicule him. Look at what's going on in the world? Look at the division in our own country and the way he and his team took advantage (as other politicians do) without any sense of decency and civic duty. But this was a shade of mean I've never seen. This is the "mean Presidency." He putzes around on TWITTER attacking any conflict. Any debate. Any pillar of our society that could challenge him. He promotes small insignificant wins as massive political events. We've had egomaniacs in office before. You almost have to be. But never a full blown narcissist. Imagine if DAVE was a gross, uninformed, petulant child that had to have his ego fed like someone who can't stop eating. So maybe you hate HILLARY CLINTON. OK. Or politicians in general. OK. What would make you believe this guy can help us? That this guy has anything in common with or cares about those that are truly in need of help and transition? When I read articles titled "What Trump can do to X" I ask if anyone thinks he really has an overall view for life in our country and our policies abroad. It's off the cuff, it's whatever gives him feedback to feed him. When I ask these questions or make comments those that disagree often just scream about DEMOCRATS or Hillary. They lost. This is what we have now. How can a citizen accept comments like "He's not going to do what he says." Or "This is the problem with the media. You guys took everything that Donald Trump said so literally. The American people didn’t. They understood it. They understood that sometimes, when you have a conversation with people, whether it’s around the dinner table or at a bar, you’re going to say things, and sometimes you don’t have all the facts to back it up." Unbelievable. You campaign on being straight and that polticians aren't. Then this. It's scary. And this comment will be the great excuse. The great lie during the term. How can I think differently? When I hear "he'll be different when in office" I just shake my head. He's immune from that logic or empathy. The pendulum swung hard. The middle is where we need to be in a free society. Many things got out of balance and the answer may have evil, destructive ramifications for decades. Our good will as a country? Can we call POTUS the leader of the free world given the rhetoric and cabinet? Our place in the world? Just some of the things I'm thinking about. Some of the things I'm trying to understand. Trying to connect with non-like minds now that I woke up to life beyond my own needs. The distraction we are witnessing isn't a nightmare? I'm sure I'm wrong about a lot of things. I want to be wrong. But I gotta feeling and it's served me well so far... Now Watching: GOOD BEHAVIOR on TNT. DOWNTON ABBEY's MICHELLE DOCKERY. She plays a grifter just out of jail on the verge of going good or bad again. Not perfect, but interesting concept, so I am in... I love ADIDAS. I buy maybe 50 pairs a year. But their customer service is atrocious. Two holding sessions for 30 minutes. Form online doesn't submit. Charged me for two gift cards when I ordered one, gift card never sent. This is how I sour on a brand... Startup thoughts overheard: You can survive bad hires. You may not survive acting slowly to move them out. The time never seems right but the long-term effect could be knockout punch... Large oil companies must possess considerable scientific expertise. In that respect as in others, Exxon has always been an industry leader: the company today says it employs about 16,000 scientists and engineers. So it is no surprise that by the late 1970s and early 1980s, Exxon scientists largely understood climate change-not only its basic mechanism but many of its implications, including its potential implications for the oil business-and had explained it to the company’s leaders. | |
