My offspring is going to rule the world. Just look at me. I am a giant. Full head of hair. Twelve fingers... He's going to win the dunk contest. The three-point shooting contest. Every single Powerball jackpot. And he'll be named America's Next Top Model. All while wearing his signature ZO2s. | | Carl Lewis runs down the long jump runway at the 1984 Olympics. | rantnrave:// JERRY JONES vs. ROGER GOODELL: GODZILLA vs. MOTHRA? Or more like DAVID vs. GOLIATH? And we know who's Goliath. Not a good look for the NFL that its most powerful owner is waging war against the commissioner. Jones is going all-out to stop Goodell from getting a contract extension. He's threatening to sue the NFL and creating an internal schism. Is Goodell overpaid? Is this really the issue here? Who do you root for? Who will the owners side with? Choose wisely. Goodell has some chutzpah too. His last contract proposal asked for a $49.5 million salary and lifetime health insurance for his family. Is that tone deaf in a league where players don't get guaranteed contracts and have to sue for health benefits? What's the outcome where Jones or Goodell doesn't come out of this with a Pyrrhic victory? How much does it undermine Goodell if Jones is trying to cut him down? He's already not well-liked by players. Or by the public. What's this going to do for his credibility? The NFL has enough problems. Jones is already leading the way against player protests, why open a two-front war? Will there be any consequences? Goodell stood up to owners who wanted him to force players to stand for the national anthem; will this force him to change his position? Will he change how he disciplines players accused of domestic violence? What's a win for Goodell in this situation? Will Jones stop fighting long enough to take the L?... Bravery by ALY RAISMAN. She said she had been sexually abused by former USA GYMNASTICS doctor LARRY NASSAR. MCKAYLA MARONEY was too. They're two of about 140 women to say Nassar abused them. Each one deserves our respect and our empathy. The allegations against USA Gymnastics are intense and detailed. Why should the organization continue to exist if it can't keep its gymnasts safe?... Started listening to podcasts on 1.3x after reading this. That's as fast as I'll go. Podcasts are slow food, not empty calories. Listening on 2x is madness. Listening on 3x seems impossible... The U is back. Please clap. Am I cool enough to pull off the turnover chain?... It's OK to cry... Money buys you loyalty. | | - Mike Vorkunov, curator |
