rantnrave:// At what point do coaches stop acting like they're the evil coach in a high school football movie? Even COACH KILMER finally lost his job in VARSITY BLUES. It's 2017 and there are still stories about abusive college coaches. RUTGERS fired its swimming coach for abuse allegations. This at the same school where MIKE RICE was caught slinging homophobic slurs and basketballs at his players. (As a Rutgers alum, my shame and infuriation run high). KEVIN WILSON at INDIANA. MIKE LONERGAN at GEORGE WASHINGTON. At COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON. MOREHEAD STATE. Is coaching by fear the best way to motivate players? Are coaches getting fired now because there's less tolerance for that style of leadership? How many coaches must lose their jobs before others see an incentive not do the same? Screaming, cursing, insults, degradation, psychological abuse -- do you want your child undergoing that? Coaches are tasked with pushing athletes to their best performance; why can't they win through positivity? Coaches grumble about not being able to reach millennials but why are the players to blame and not the coaches? The WARRIORS rule the NBA with a player-inclusive coach. Old-school managers are endangered in MLB. When will this trickle down to the college and amateur levels?... The tallest and shortest MVPS ever -- in the same year. GIANCARLO STANTON and JOSE ALTUVE look like TWINS but both are great players. JOEY VOTTO remains under-appreciated. The NATIONAL LEAGUE MVP race was a toss-up... THE TWO ESCOBARS remains captivating on a second watch. NARCOS brought COLOMBIA's narco wars into our pop culture but the 30 FOR 30 doc shed light on it in 2010, using the death of a Colombian soccer player as an entry way to also examine the country's drug cartels... The NFL is a myth-maker. Stories of the STEELERS’ dynasty, AARON RODGERS and BRETT FAVRE under center in GREEN BAY, and ODELL BECKHAM JR.'s famous catch have helped turned the league into a giant. Hear about its stars and their scars in their own words. SportsSET: "4th & Inches: Amazing Oral Histories From the NFL"... The ARIZONA COYOTES have bigger problems than the NHL's worst record... Is JOEL EMBIID the most fun player in the NBA? TWITTER star. Dominant on the court. Let's hope he stays healthy.
