When I got older and actually wanted to win, I would drink a lot of water, eat a lot of veggies, go to bed once you got into the city — no sex, nothing like that. Because all that stuff adds up.

The 2007 NBA All-Star Game. (Dennis Yank/Flickr)
Tuesday - December 20, 2016 Tue - 12/20/16
rantnrave:// This might have been received warmly a few years ago but JOE BUCK even hinting at retirement (and this is probably just him riffing in a radio interview) sure was sad to hear. As he’s unleashed his cheeky personality and become less of a stoic broadcaster, Buck has become likable and among the most enjoyable in-game voices – not just one of its most prolific… CHINA’s soccer league is what some feared the MLS could have become once upon a time. CARLOS TEVEZ is the latest aging star on the verge of joining that country’s soccer league and for a record fee. The competition is poor over there but the money’s good. Welcome to soccer’s retirement home… Holy cow, FLORIDA STATE. I guess you can stipulate a $44.4 million buyout clause for your head football coach – even if it does diminish over time – when you don’t need to pay the actual labor. I’m old enough to remember when people bristled at golden parachutes that large for CEOs… Who knows how NORTH CAROLINA will handle its anti-LGBT law but repealing it now still won’t bring back the NCAA. The association is keeping their championships out of the state even if it goes… BLITZEN can hit in the middle of the lineup for my team anytime he wants. And I want COMET on the mound… Not sure there's a good argument for the media to insert itself into the NBA’s ALL-STAR voting. The media already has an influence on the paychecks of the league’s top players since its All-NBA team voting can cost players money, but to also now have a say in who goes to the ALL-STAR GAME seems foolhardy. At least baseball’s HALL OF FAME and awards voters can argue that they’re following tradition – hardly a binding argument, but still. Presumably, some media members had to agree to take on this burden. I just can’t understand why... I'd put money down if there was a DANCING WITH THE STARS fantasy league.

Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens are going to be Hall of Famers: Here's what it means
by Jeff Passan
It’s happening. Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens are getting in to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. It won’t be this year, and it probably won’t be next year, either, but it’s very possible by 2019, and if not then, they will ascend the Cooperstown stage in 2020 or 2021.
