[JavaSpecialists] COVID19 and Businesses

Good afternoon from the Island of Crete,

we are in a situation like nothing that we have experienced in our lifetime. In Greece all schools and universities are closed, all conferences cancelled, and we are all urged to work from home. I was supposed to be in Germany this week and next to teach my Extreme Java and Design Patterns courses. However, we had to postpone the courses until later in the year.

I am sure that wherever you are and whatever work you do, you will be affected by this global pandemic. Some businesses will prosper. Most will suffer.

20 years ago I started reading Peter Carruthers' newsletter. My Java Specialists' Newsletter, plus a lot of other things that I do, were inspired by his wisdom. He sent out a very sobering message this morning, specifically to small business owners. Even if you do not have your own business, chances are that you are working for one and so this might be relevant for them. Here is a link to this article:
