| | Sunday, September 12, 2021 | With all but two Week 1 games in the books, how are you teams looking? Seeing as Raheem Mostert -- Jamey Eisenberg's Start of the Week -- left after just two carries, I'm sure a bunch of you aren't in great position. | That's okay because you made the right call; Mostert was going to have a monster game, and Elijah Mitchell did it in his stead. Bad luck hurts, but your process was right, and ultimately, that's more important in the long run, when the injury luck will even out. | Of course, that's a small consolation if Mostert ends up missing a significant amount of time. We don't have a specific reason to think that'll be the case as of now for Mostert, but it could be the case for Jerry Jeudy, who left the Broncos game in the second half with an ankle injury that required him to be carted to the locker room. | The good news is, X-rays on the ankle came back negative, so he seems to have avoided a worst-case scenario. The bad news is, he has been diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain, an injury that rarely requires just a one- or two-week absence. More often, you're measuring the amount of time missed potentially in months. We'll wait for more information before moving forward, but Jeudy looks like the biggest injury of the week for Fantasy -- and one you'll need to have an answer for, given that he was typically drafted as a starter. | | My early look at the top priorities for the Week 2 waiver wire are here in tonight's newsletter to help you start to formulate a plan, with the top five RB priorities plus nine players at other positions I'll be looking at. But first, here's a recap of the injuries you need to know about from Sunday's games so far, beginning with something to watch for Monday Night Football: | Josh Jacobs (illness) -- Jacobs was added to the injury report Sunday with an illness. Since he wasn't placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, it likely isn't related to that, but it's worrisome anytime someone is added to the report late. Hopefully, we'll have some updates on Jacobs' status before the game, but if you need a last-minute option to swap in, make sure Kenyan Drake isn't available, and when he isn't, add Peyton Barber as a "Break Glass In Case of Emergency" option if Jacobs is inactive. Jerry Jeudy (ankle) -- Likely looking at a multi-week absence, and it wouldn't be a surprise if he missed a month or more. Raheem Mostert (knee) -- Reports indicate this injury isn't an ACL tear, but the 49ers will need to do more tests before determining the severity. We could be looking at a multi-week absence here as well, but we should have more details Monday. Mitchell looks like the top option to replace him, though maybe if Mostert misses multiple weeks we'll see fellow rookie Trey Sermon, so don't drop him yet. Ryan Fitzpatrick (hip) -- At this point, we don't know how much time Fitzpatrick might miss, but this one could be very serious. Fitzpatrick suffered a subluxation of his hip at the very least, though further tests could reveal more damage. We were pretty excited about Fitzpatrick's addition to the Football Team and what it might mean for Terry McLaurin and the rest, so you'll have to downgrade them at least a little bit moving forward if Fitzpatrick does have to miss time. | | We'll have more on injuries in tomorrow's newsletter.
