Lead Stories Trump Trade War Fuels Use of Currency Options as Hedge in Europe Alice Atkins and Alice Gledhill - Bloomberg The use of options is growing, with daily volumes surging to a record in early April, as companies seek to shield their business from disruption and uncertainty caused by trade tariffs. European corporate treasurers increasingly are turning to the options market to hedge currency exposure, a more costly method than typically used, as Donald Trump's trade policies cause bigger-than-usual price swings. Daily volumes of currency options surged to a record in early April in the aftermath of Trump's "Liberation Day" tariff unveil, according to data from the Depository Trust and Clearing Corp. At BNP Paribas SA, one of Europe's largest banks, corporate sales of FX options have doubled year-over-year in 2025 to an all-time high. /jlne.ws/3IsML9R Volatility Gauge Hovers Near Lowest In Four Months on Strong Jobs Data Bernard Goyder - Bloomberg The Cboe VIX Index touched its lowest level in more than four months in early trading Thursday, after jobs data showing the US labor market is doing better than expected added to a rally that has pushed stocks to records. The volatility gauge was at 16.43 as of 10:41 a.m. in New York, as the S&P 500 puhsed higher by 0.8%. Wall Street's fear gauge opened below 16 at the lowest since Feb. 20. /jlne.ws/44f3oyv The Great Bitcoin Power Shift Has Large Holders Dumping 500,000 Coins Olga Kharif - Bloomberg The shift from anonymous whales to institutional allocators may help sustain the current market dynamic for an extended period, with some analysts expecting Bitcoin's appreciation to be capped at 10% to 20% a year, making it more of a slow-burn allocation. A silent transfer of control is reshaping the $2.1 trillion Bitcoin market. A steady stream of sales by long-time whales - miners, offshore funds and anonymous wallets - is being met almost one-for-one by demand from institutional players like ETFs, corporates and asset managers. The result: Bitcoin is struggling to break out of its record high around $110,000, volatility is evaporating, and its place in the investment landscape is being reshaped. /jlne.ws/4nymlUo Bitcoin's Original Appeal Fades With Volatility at 2-Year Low Kirk Ogunrinde - Bloomberg With Bitcoin stuck in a narrow trading range for much of the year, one of key attractions of the largest digital currency since its earliest days is waning. A closely-watched measure of price swings known as implied volatility has declined to the lowest level in about two years, according to Deribit's BTC Volatility Index. The guage monitors the 30-day forward-looking annualized expectations of volatility. "Bitcoin is becoming less speculative and more akin to a volatile macro asset," said Michael Longoria, a research analyst at the crypto investment firm GSR. /jlne.ws/4laKMFI BlackRock Bitcoin ETF Drives More Revenue Than Its S&P 500 Fund Isabelle Lee - Bloomberg At the world's biggest asset manager, a Bitcoin exchange-traded fund now generates more revenue than its signature tracker of the S&P 500 Index. The roughly $75 billion iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (ticker IBIT) has seen a torrent of cash from institutional and retail investors alike, drawing inflows in all but one of the last 18 months. With an expense ratio of 0.25%, the fund brings in an estimated $187.2 million in annual fees, based on back-of-the-envelope math calculated by Bloomberg as of July 1. That slightly edges out the $187.1 million made by BlackRock's iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV), which is nearly nine times larger at around $624 billion in assets, and charges just 0.03%. /jlne.ws/3TRkw7k Exchanges The Fourth of July Is Close.
