Good afternoon, friends. Hope you're having a good Tuesday. President Biden is in town today, so prepare for some traffic delays. Here's some of the headlines we've been working on at NOLA.com.
Presidential visit: President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will be at Tulane University this afternoon to talk about the fight against cancer. But for some drivers it could mean traffic snarls as the motorcade makes its way to and from the airport. (We'll be there for Biden's visit, so check back with NOLA.com for our dispatch.) Meanwhile, the president’s visit to Tulane comes as students (well, really their parents in some cases) are moving into campus dorms for the upcoming semester, Marie Fazio writes.
Fees rise, tension flares: There’s some new twists in the Archdiocese of New Orleans bankruptcy case. Stephanie Riegel brings us up to speed on the latest volley of court filings in the long-running and very expensive legal drama.
A new education hub: Students with disabilities often fall through the cracks in New Orleans. But this week the Orleans Parish School Board is expected to vote on creating a new agency tasked with coordinating special education across the district’s many charter schools, Patrick Wall reports.
Eats on the (relatively) cheap: The annual Coolinary summer dining program is happening now in New Orleans. But similar programs have popped up in Jefferson Parish and Kenner. And don't forget the Tammany Taste of Summer on the northshore. Eat well, friends.
