A Personal Invitation from John Mauldin: Join Me for a Peek Over My Shoulder
Dear Friend, You may have noticed I use the word “friend” frequently. I don’t use it lightly, though. I consider you and all my other readers my friends, even if we’ve never met in person. Every friendship begins with a common interest. For you and me, it is the fast-changing global economy. We want to know what is happening and why. More important, we want to know what will happen next. At the same time, we want more than a forecast. We like to savor the journey as we shepherd our families and businesses into an uncertain future. That means we enjoy economics the same way some people enjoy golf or football. Thinking and learning is fun. In this regard, I have an advantage you may not: I get to read, write, speak and talk with top economic experts every day. Somehow, I have become the information hub of a fascinating group of traders, fund managers, economists and other financial experts. As a result of this, a truly unbelievable amount of research passes through my hands. Some of it you can find online, if you know where to look. Some is available for prices that would choke a horse. Some is private and never published anywhere. A few years ago, I realized how useful and interesting this material would be to my newsletter readers. I started asking my sources to let me occasionally share their thoughts. Reactions varied. Some said absolutely not, it is completely confidential. Of course I respect their wishes. Others said yes, but with conditions. I can only quote them twice a year, once a month, etc. In most of those cases, they also insisted I not post their material publicly on the Internet. They don’t want their analysis turning into the next viral meme. Out of this was born Over My Shoulder. Unlike our other Mauldin Economics publications, this one doesn’t offer investment recommendations. It’s what you might call “background research.” My sources around the world send me a constant stream of commentary on everything from central bank policies to emerging market currencies. I select a few items each month and forward them on to Over My Shoulder subscribers. We don’t have a set schedule, but I try to send at least one (and often two–three items) per week. Some are very short, just a few paragraphs of important ideas. Others are long research studies. All are material I personally found interesting. Aside from the value of the information itself, subscribers also get the benefit of me weeding out the irrelevant or duplicative material. Think of me as your personal research assistant. I send you only what you really need to read, thereby saving you valuable time. If you enjoy the topics I cover in Thoughts from the Frontline, you will probably like what I pick for Over My Shoulder. As an added bonus, each month my Mauldin Economics team pulls together a collection of “Charts That Matter.” If pictures are worth a thousand words, then this visual data-fest should be worth $1,000. You’ll get it free as an Over My Shoulder subscriber. With so much valuable information plus my personal curation, I think Over My Shoulder is very reasonably priced at $179 per year. I invite you to try it for a month. If you don’t feel it works for you, we’ll gladly refund the full amount. Give Over My Shoulder a try. I am very confident you will enjoy it. Your Always Reading Something Analyst, John Mauldin Chairman P.S. I should also mention that your subscription includes full access to the Over My Shoulder online archive. You can go back and read years of fascinating material. Skimming through the archive is a bit like hunting for treasure. You’ll likely find a gold nugget or two that will alone pay for the cost of a year’s subscription. Copyright 2016 Mauldin Economics Click here to opt-out of promotional mailings. |
