DearFriend, Since 1999, Litquake has been at the core of San Francisco's literary life. At the heart of our mission is the belief that reading and writing and storytelling in all its forms are a fundamental part of being human. Stories are inherent to how we understand ourselves, each other, and our community.
Letās engage. Letās connect. Join us in celebrating our past 25 years and welcoming whatās to comeādonate today.
Since the very first festival with only a dozen writers and a few hundred people in attendance, Litquake has hosted as many drag queens as investigative journalistsā we believe everyone deserves to tell their story and in the way they want to.
Continuing to reinvigorate and reinvent the Litquake you love after 25 years, we remain dynamic yet grounded by our hard-fought ethos. Under new leadership, this yearās 25th festival was everything we hoped it could be: a resounding reminder that we are a community created again and again through these connections.
Loud, joyous, this yearās festival was full of what Litquake is essentially about: YOU. Your stories, poems, luminous words. Your readiness to listen, to be moved, to discover, to celebrate.
In our 25-year journey together, weāve come to know this vital source of connection. Stories and storytelling are essential to how we process and understand the world around us, our place in it, and who we are to one another. And through this work, letās continue to build a more enlightened, empowered, and inclusive community, now and for the future.
For the love of words. Thank you! Norah Piehl, Executive Director
