Has the LSU baseball team finally had its breakthrough moment? That remains to be seen, but there's no doubt that Friday night's 6-4 win over No. 1-ranked Texas A&M at Alex Box Stadium was the Tigers' biggest of what has been a frustrating season for the reigning CWS champions. For now, big though it is, it's just one win. But it gives the Tigers two cracks at taking the series against the Aggies, which could be a huge factor in LSU making the NCAA tournament. The Tigers' RPI, according to WarrenNolan.com, improved four spots to 38. Their first chance at taking the series comes Saturday at 6:30 p.m. THe game will be on ESPN2. Softball also got a win, though not quite as big, Friday against Liberty. But pitching ace Sydney Berzon was brilliant once again in the circle in a 4-0 shutout. The LSU beach volleyball team was not to be out done in the big win department. Those Tigers advanced at the NCAA Championship in Gulf Shores, Alabama, with a 3-2 victory over TCU. Up next is a noon Saturday quarterfinal match against No. 3-seeded Stanford, also on ESPN2.
