| | |
| | | | KEY FIGURE OF THE DAY: 8 | By winning in Hautacam, on this 18th stage of the 2022 Tour, Jonas Vingegaard becomes the first rider since 2014 to win both a summit finish in the Pyrenees and another one in altitude in the Alps, on the same edition of the Grande Boucle. Eight years ago, Vincenzo Nibali won four stages, three of them in altitude, in La Planche des Belles Filles (stage 10), in the Vosges, in Chamrousse (stage 13), in the Alps, and in Hautacam (stage 18), in the Pyrenees. The 2014 Tour de France was the only edition the Italian rider had won. Another rider had achieved this Alps-Pyrenees double in 2014: Rafal Majka. The Pole won in Risoul (Alps) on stage 14 and in Saint-Lary-Soulan (Pyrenees) on stage 16.
