| ‘Positive Coaching’ boosting high school sports experience for Jordan District student-athletes |
|
| | Captains of Jordan School District's winter sports teams gathered for a Positive Coaching Alliance workshop designed to maximize their high school sports' experiences — while also being a positive influence on teammates and others. Bryan Veazie, the district’s director of athletics and activities, said the Jordan School District implemented the Positive Coach Alliance workshops to enhance the sports experience for high school student-athletes, along with their parents and coaches. The workshops, offered to both coaches and team captains, focus on building positive relationships and helping student-athletes thrive outside of comfort zones. Read more from Jason Swensen about how student-athletes are learning to embrace failure — and to keep moving forward and competing. | Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said state law enforcement will work with the incoming Trump administration to identify and deport more migrants with criminal behavior. Trump has said he will implement the largest mass deportation program in U.S. history. During his reelection campaign, Trump alternated between promises to deport all migrants who have entered the country illegally — at least 11 million people — and promises to focus on those migrants with criminal behavior. Housing migrants who entered the country illegally in Utah prisons costs the state $16 million each year, Cox said. And more than half of drug-related felony offenses committed this year along the Jordan River Trail were committed by migrants who had entered the country illegally.
