This weekend Wendy and I were attending our son’s basketball game at Reinhardt University. I’m pretty easy to find at basketball games as I’m typically the most vocal fan. At the end of the game a young man approached us and asked do you remember me? I certainly did, it was a former resident of The Joy House from several years ago. He was attending the game with a Reinhardt student friend. He looked great and shared briefly with Wendy and I catching us up on what is happening in his world. It meant a lot that he took the time to come and speak with us. Some former residents are friends with me on Facebook. What a great joy to see them enjoying success in different ways. Some of them are in college pursuing degrees. Some of them are husbands and wives now with their own children. Many of them are in careers enjoying success. As we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving it fills my heart with gratitude that God has given us the privilege to be a part of each of these lives. This certainly doesn’t mean that all of them are “knocking it out of the park”, but many of them are enjoying success. I consider where they might or could be and where they are, and there is much to be grateful for. I’m also grateful for each of you that have partnered with us to invest in the lives of all those here at The Joy House. It is only through your partnership that we are able to continue seeing Christ change lives. We all have so many things to be grateful for. I hope you will take time with me during this Thanksgiving holiday to recount all the many blessings the Lord has granted us, and give Him thanks for them. "I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds". – Psalm 9:1 With Gratitude, Steve Lowe Executive Director |

As you navigate life, don’t lose sight of the simple stuff. This Thanksgiving season, we cheer you on to dwell and reflect on the pocket-sized victories, the intimate flashes of joy, and the steadfast love of the folks walking beside you. Real gratitude is often found amid struggle. It is a reminder that God is always “here” and in all circumstances. Happiest of Thanksgivings. "Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope." -Romans 5:3-5 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:6-7 |
