Note from the editor

When Commissioner Cheryl LaFleur steps down from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in just under a month, FERC will have a 2-1 split as federal regulators craft a solution to adapt wholesale markets and consider state initiatives.

In an exclusive interview with Utility Dive, the Democratic commissioner discussed what she considers to be pressure from the Trump Administration to support coal and nuclear power. She discussed work on the transition of the energy sector and the "missed" opportunity to open a docket on LNG pipelines.

While this is an exit interview, this is not the last you'll hear from LaFleur. As we have with other former FERC commissioners, we expect to tap into her insight into regulatory matters and procedures.
