Good evening Who knows which way the Government will jump when it comes to next Monday’s d-day decision over removing all restrictions. While we are all heartily sick of the restraints put on our daily lives, most of us know that they are there for a reason - to protect the most vulnerable and to try to stop the spread of Covid and lessen the risk of further mutations. But at least we can now see that the vaccines are starting to break the link between infection and having to go into hospital with a serious illness. We are told that most of the cases of Covid in the North West are in younger people and while some of them are becoming sick enough to go into hospital, few are having to receive the most invasive treatment. This may be seen as the white flag to open up the whole of society and dispense with our face masks and social distancing. But until everyone is vaccinated, we are all still at risk, so perhaps we should proceed with the caution that many scientists are recommending. After all, what difference is a few weeks going to make?
