Grand Illustrated Lecture and Magic Lantern Show

Learn about the magic lantern—a 17th-century device that can project images on a wall or screen—and enjoy an actual magic lantern show given by collector Richard Balzer. Extraordinary images from hand-painted glass slides will be projected onto a 40-foot screen by a 19th-century magic lantern. More

The Harvard Art Museums Archives is participating in Cambridge Open Archives, an annual event that offers the rare chance to visit a number of unique archives and collecting agencies in Cambridge. Staff from the Harvard Art Museums Archives will present archival materials based on this year’s theme, “Living and Dying in Cambridge.” More
