SelectCoder Tip of the Week

Conditions classifiable to ICD-10-CM code category N43.- (hydrocele and spermatocele) indicate cysts of fluid that develop near the head of the epididymis (spermatocele), or surrounding the testicle (hydrocele). They are often painless but may cause discomfort due to pressure on surrounding areas. When a hydrocele is reported as infected, assign code N43.1 (infected hydrocele) with an additional code for the causative organism, if known.
