If there is a complication involving the insulin pump, coders should report use a code from ICD-10-CM subcategories T85.6- (mechanical complication of other specified internal and external prosthetic devices, implants, and grafts) or T85.7- (infection and inflammatory reaction due to other internal prosthetic devices, implants, and grafts) instead of the Z code.
