Following numerous successful exhibitions in Germany and abroad, Berlin-based artist Kathrin Linkersdorff is presenting an overview of her work, which is located at the interface between art and science, as part of the European Month of Photography at Haus am Kleistpark. On display are works from various groups of works from recent years such as Wabi Sabi (2013-2017), Floriszenzen (from 2019) and Fairies (from 2020) as well as from her current project Microverse (since 2023).
At the centre of the exhibition are the works from the most recent series Microverse I, II and III, including a never-before-shown, wall-sized 4-part work whose composition is reminiscent of images of cosmic nebulae and galaxies. These are images that were created as part of her research as Artist in Residence at the Excellence Cluster ‘Matters of Activity’ at the Institute of Biology/Microbiology at Humboldt University in Berlin, where Linkersdorff is able to observe the behaviour of simple soil bacteria in biochemical decay processes and thus document nature's cycle processes in her works. |

Inspired by the Japanese philosophy of 'Wabi Sabi', which goes along with the acceptance and contemplation of the transience of all things, Kathrin Linkersdorff has already explored the complex interplay of growth and decay in wilting flowers in earlier experiments. Her photo studio is also a laboratory in which she not only dries plants, but also uses chemical processes to extract their pigments in order to visualise their structures. In all her works, organic processes can be experienced, which can also be read as poetic, visual metaphors for transience as an integral part of life.
The exhibition will travel to the Stadthaus Ulm, where it will be presented in an expanded version from 22 June to 21 September 2025. |

| Kathrin Linkersdorff (*1966) is considered one of the most promising photographic discoveries of recent years. She initially studied architecture, followed by a two-year stay in Japan, which had a lasting impact on her further development. In 2012, after studying at the fas (Fotografie am Schiffbauerdamm) in Berlin and several years of training in Japanese ink painting, she ended her career as an architect and has since worked successfully as a freelance artist. Her photographic work has since been exhibited nationally and internationally and published in two monographic illustrated books (Hartmann books). |
