Love is in the air at OZY. Having worked closely together this past year on our OZY & BBC show When Katty Met Carlos, we’ve decided to take the relationship to the next level.
OZY invited Katty Kay to stay, and guess what? She said yes.
Katty will be leaving her longtime post as a BBC News anchor and correspondent to join OZY as a Senior Editor and Executive Producer, adding an even more powerful punch to our diverse, compelling and globally minded storytelling in an increasingly streaming world — across news, TV, podcasts, festivals, newsletters, events and more. In case you missed it, Katty helped host OZY Fest this month; you can catch her on stage here.
I couldn’t be more excited to welcome Katty to the OZY Media family. Katty, the BBC and OZY have had a terrific relationship and having her come on board full time confirms that what young, growing OZY has focused on matters. It emboldens us to take even bigger chances moving forward as the world collectively prepares for a powerful reset. We’re thrilled that Katty is joining us on the journey.
Initially, Katty will host an exciting lineup of streaming shows set to launch this autumn, starting with a U.S. and global politics interview show.
Of course, the decision to leave the BBC wasn’t easy. After all, Katty has spent much of her career at the esteemed British broadcaster. So why OZY? As she told me: “It took the lure of a special place for me to leave a special place.”
Katty comes to us with a lot of great experience but also with something that’s key to OZY’s mission: an eagerness to try new things and break new ground. Like we said, love is in the air.
