Interesting reads from in around Baton Rouge.
with Matthew Albright | Assistant metro editorGood morning. Check out some of our most interesting reads from yesterday. Officially a legendThe year 2021 tested Kevin Faulk terribly. His youngest daughter passed away, and he was let go from the LSU coaching staff during its transition to new leadership. But yesterday it was announced that Faulk will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. This story explains the honor, and how his incredible career as a player earned it. "There to learn, not to fight"Judge Alvin Turner Jr. saw a bunch of students coming through his courtroom, arrested after fights in school. He didn't want to just lock them up, so he came up with an alternative. This story explains the "Students Against Bad Behavior" programs he put together, and how he hopes they could be a better way than throwing the book at the kids. Judge slams BRPD for 'retaliation' against lawyerA federal judge has issued a ruling blasting the Baton Rouge Police Department for what he called a blatant attempt to retaliate against a lawyer who got the department bad publicity. BRPD leaders had tried to get a lawyer slapped with contempt charges after he released a video that showed officers strip-searching a juvenile suspect. But the judge said that request was made "in bad faith and in retaliation." Thanks for reading, and have a great day. |
