Editor's note: Although the media brings us closer globally, it also contributes to a sense of alienation locally by highly overemphasizing negative acts and suffering. Strengthening our local community bonds and reaching out to our neighbors seems to be a good place to start to rectify the fear that is created by the news. To enable our kindness and compassion to help heal these deep wounds - allowing us to light candles, instead of cursing the darkness.
