| Hello. King Charles is due to deliver the Speech from the Throne in Canada - the first such occasion in nearly 50 years. Our royal correspondent Sean Coughlan explains its significance. From the US, reporter Bernd Debusmann Jr looks at the challenges facing President Donald Trump's plan for a "Golden Dome" missile defence system. And finally, watch the highlights from the stomach-churning cheese-rolling race in England. | |

TOP OF THE AGENDA | Why the King's speech in Canada matters |
|
| | The King's decision to open the parliament in Ottawa is seen as a symbolic show of support for Canada. Credit: Reuters | King Charles has met Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on his two-day visit to the country, where he is the head of state. Carney invited the King to deliver the speech at the opening of parliament after his recent general election victory, in a campaign dominated by the threats to Canada's sovereignty from President Trump, who has repeatedly said the country should be the 51st US state. As Sean Coughlan notes, the King's speech will be written on the advice of the Canadian government, with the expectation that it will send a clear, if diplomatic, message that the country is "not for sale" to the US. |

BEYOND THE HEADLINES | The challenges of building a 'Golden Dome' |
|
| | | Trump suggested that the project could be completed at a total cost of $175bn (£129bn) over time. Credit: Getty Images | North Korea has criticised the US's plan for a futuristic "Golden Dome" missile defence system, saying it could "turn outer space into a potential nuclear war field". Experts interviewed by Bernd Debusmann Jr point to other issues challenging Trump's project - namely its high cost and logistical complexity. |

And finally... | A famous annual cheese-rolling event has been held in England. The competition sees people chase 7lb (3kg) wheels of Double Gloucester down one of the UK's steepest hills, with the winner claiming the dairy prize. Perhaps surprisingly, one of this year's winners does not even like cheese. Take a look. | |
