Exclusive Offer to Attend a Sold-Out Screening at the Newly Opened Presidio Theatre

KQED Members can attend a special sold-out screening of Jane's Declaration of Independence on Saturday, October 19, from 7pm to 8pm at the Presidio Theatre.

The Presidio Theatre was originally built in 1939 and served as a movie theatre and live performance venue for army officers and enlisted personnel stationed in the Presidio of San Francisco. In September, the theatre re-opened its doors to the public as a vibrant community gathering place for cultural, educational, and social activities.

Shot in 1915, Jane's Declaration of Independence, is a 20-minute two-reeler movie, and the earliest surviving silent theatrical film shot in the Presidio. Newly rediscovered, the restored film’s world premiere screening will feature live musical accompaniment by a six-piece orchestra. The evening’s program also includes an introduction to the Presidio’s rich early film history and background on the film’s restoration.

Presented with the San Francisco Silent Film Festival, the Presidio Trust, and the Presidio Theatre. The Presidio Theatre is an independent, nonprofit, performing arts venue located in the Presidio of San Francisco.

Seating is limited, so please RSVP by October 14 for your free exclusive offer! Offer password: KQED
