Hi John, Melbourne’s La Trobe University says it will be the first Australian university to offer a course specialising in the tech industry’s fastest growing sector – the Internet of Things.
MariaDB Corporation, the database company born as a result of forking the well-known open-source MySQL database, has opened new US headquarters in Redwood City, California, indicating that it is growing in prominence. \ IT solutions provider Unisys has been recontracted by the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads to provide facial image processing technology and services for the State’s smart card driver licence. Australian cyber security firm Secure Logic will open its second Cyber Threat Intelligence Centre in the Indian city of Bangalore with a $4 million investment. The company already has one such centre in Sydney. The second centre is due to open its doors in December. Global networking giant Cisco has unveiled a partnership with La Trobe University to set up a Cisco Co-Innovation Centre at the institute of learning. The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has launched its new investment plan, setting out three new priority areas aimed at further improving the competitiveness of renewable energy technologies and increasing the supply of renewable energy in Australia.
