| ☔ Hopefully you soaked up a bit of sun Tuesday because we’re in for an unsettled stretch with heavy rainfall potential. Clouds will increase Wednesday with spotty showers and thunder for southern Minnesota. 🌡️ Temperatures will be a bit cooler, mostly in the 70s for highs across Minnesota Wednesday afternoon, but temperatures will be much warmer south of a stalled front in Iowa and Nebraska. 🌧️ Thursday evening into Friday morning, an upper level disturbance combined with an accelerating low-level jet stream will push moisture up and over that boundary to produce widespread showers and thunderstorms that could produce heavy rainfall. | 🏛️ Details emerge on Lake Street raid as feds charge protester with assaulting FBI agent. Because ICE agents were there, dozens of people showed up to protest. The law enforcement tactics appeared similar to recent raids elsewhere because it involved armored vehicles and some of the agents wore face masks. 🧑⚖️ Judge denies pretrial motions in Sen. Mitchell’s upcoming criminal trial. A Becker County judge has denied all of the pretrial motions filed by state Sen. Nicole Mitchell’s defense team, and her trial on felony burglary charges for allegedly breaking into her step mother’s home is set to begin Monday. 💼 Federal job watch: May sees single largest monthly loss so far this year. The federal government employed more than 3 million Americans at the start of 2025, but that is rapidly changing under the Trump administration. ⛏️ Provision to allow for mining near the Boundary Waters stripped from budget bill. A controversial provision to open up a huge swath of federal land near the BWCA to mining for copper, nickel and other metals has been stripped from a massive budget bill moving through Congress. 📚 St. Francis Area Schools to reverse book ban policy. The union sued the northern Twin Cities-area district earlier this year on behalf of eight St. Francis students in response to a district policy that required officials to use a conservative website as a gauge to help choose books to buy for school libraries. 🚓 Frey asks city attorney to help revive parts of dismissed federal agreement on MPD. Mayor Jacob Frey signed an executive order Tuesday directing the city to move forward with police reforms that would have been required under the federal consent decree that never came to be. 🏢 St. Paul Downtown Development Corporation buys debt behind Alliance Bank Center. The nonprofit — a subsidiary of the St. Paul Downtown Alliance — purchased the bank note of the Alliance Bank Center for an undisclosed amount and will initiate legal proceedings to place the vacant building into a receivership. 🛒 Grocery stores see disruptions following security breach at major food supplier. Several Minnesota grocery stores and pharmacies are seeing disruptions this week as a major food supplier addresses a cyberattack. United Natural Foods, Inc. said it had detected “unauthorized activity” in its systems. ⛺ Two campers found dead at Isle Royale National Park. Authorities have not identified the two people that were found dead at a remote backcountry campground . As of Tuesday morning, park officials said their causes of death were not yet known. |
