ROPEd, a short film from producer Jordana Aarons (NSI Totally TelevisionNSI Features First), has been selected for the Women in Film & Television – Toronto (WIFT-T) 2018 Showcase and will screen at TIFF Bell Lightbox on April 17 as part of a showcase of seven short films by women.

ROPEd will also air nationally on CBC’s Canadian Reflections series on April 5 at 11:30 p.m. local time.

Based on Margaret Atwood’s poem Half-hanged Mary and on true events in 1685, ROPEd is the heroic tale of Mary Webster, a healer and landowner, who is confronted by her Puritan neighbours with accusations of witchcraft. Mary is not one to go down without a fight. Now, with all her strength and spirit, she will fight for her very life.
