CBC New Indigenous Voices short Forgotten screens at its sixth fest in August Posted: 18 Jul 2018 01:41 PM PDT CBC New Indigenous Voices film Forgotten, from Jesse Spence, Alexis Leask and Andy Lown, screens next month at the Asinabka Film & Media Arts Festival in Ottawa. Forgotten follows Levi who lives a simple life until escalating visions, too strong to ignore, lead him to reconnect to his Indigenous heritage. Shelley Niro one of 50 Indigenous women participants in Resilience billboard project Posted: 18 Jul 2018 01:34 PM PDT Resilience, a new art project from curator Lee-Ann Martin and produced by Mentoring Artists for Women’s Art (MAWA), features artwork by 50 indigenous women supersized on billboards throughout Canada. Shelley Niro (Featuring Aboriginal Stories Program) is one of the featured artists – view them all. The Resilience billboard exhibition is a response to Call to Action #79 of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Report: the integration of “Indigenous history, heritage values, and memory practices into Canada’s national heritage and history.” Resilience takes place June 1, 2018 to August 1, 2018 on 81 billboards from coast to coast.
