Tonya Williams talks about Access Reelworld on CTV’s The Marilyn Denis Show Posted: 18 Aug 2020 02:09 PM PDT Activist, actor, director, producer and founder of the Reelworld Film Festival Tonya Williams (NSI Global Marketing) was recently a guest on The Marilyn Denis Show. Marilyn and Tonya discussed the recently launched Access Reelworld, a database of Black, Indigenous, Asian, South Asian, Middle Eastern, Latinx and all other racially diverse communities in the Canadian entertainment industry. In the first three weeks, 400 people have already signed up and a job board will be active in September. Tonya spoke about the 20th anniversary of the Reelworld Film Festival and its pivot to a digital platform for the October event (Oct. 14 to 19). Marilyn also asked Tonya about being one of the first Black soap opera stars in her role as Dr. Olivia Barber on The Young and the Restless. The Marilyn Denis Show airs weekdays on CTV. Applications now being accepted for Creative Manitoba’s youth mentorship program Posted: 18 Aug 2020 12:26 PM PDT Applications are currently being accepted for Creative Manitoba’s youth mentorship program. Youth and young adults ages 19-29, residing in Winnipeg or within 75 km, can be mentored in any artistic discipline – creative, administrative, or technical. Within the chosen artistic area, the program’s aim is to offer structured one-on-one tutelage from a recognized mentor, networking opportunities within the industry, volunteer work experience and development of essential skills and knowledge of the arts and cultural sector. The program runs over seven months, from late September through to May. Youth may apply on their own or with an experienced mentor partner. Mentors receive an honourarium – the program is free for selected youth mentees. Apply by August 26. Full details and an application form are available on Creative Manitoba’s website.
