zahgidiwin/love from Frances Koncan at Winnipeg Fringe Fest 2016 Posted: 23 Jun 2016 11:32 AM PDT zahgidiwin/love, another new play written and directed by Frances Koncan (NSI New Voices), is being performed this summer at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival from July 14 to 24, in addition to her recently-announced play Flesh-Coloured Crayons. Using the collective culture of contemporary colonial Canada, the play is set across three time periods of Canadian history: a residential school in the ‘60s, a murderer’s basement in the ‘90s and a castle in the post-apocalyptic future. Through a kaleidoscope of theatrical styles, the play explores the ramifications of trauma across generations and searches for what a decolonized nation and decolonized theatre might look like.
