Season four of APTN series Mohawk Girls set for October 25 Posted: 06 Oct 2016 05:04 PM PDT Congrats to Rezolution Pictures – Tracey Deer (NSI Storytellers, Featuring Aboriginal Stories Program), Cynthia Knight (NSI Drama Prize), and Catherine Bainbridge and Christina Fon (both NSI Global Marketing) – on the launch of season four of Mohawk Girls which begins Tuesday, October 25 on APTN. Check your local listings for times. Production took place in Montreal and Kahnawake Mohawk Territory in Quebec this past summer. The series was created and is executive produced by Tracey Deer and Cynthia Knight, with Tracey directing and Cynthia acting as head writer. Rezolution’s Catherine Bainbridge and Christina Fon serve as producers/executive producers. |
STORYHIVE web series CODED plays at Austin and UK Web fests Posted: 06 Oct 2016 04:13 PM PDT Congratulations to the team behind TELUS STORYHIVE-supported web series CODED which has been accepted to the Austin Film Festival and UK Web Fest. You can catch episodes of CODED at the Austin Film Fest on October 16 and 19, and at UK Web Fest on October 29. CODED was one of four winning projects to receive $50K from TELUS in 2015. • • • STORYHIVE is a community-powered funding program that allows members of the community to influence what projects will receive funding from TELUS. The program allows content creators in British Columbia and Alberta to submit their story ideas to an online public platform. The community then votes for the project that should receive funding and go into production. NSI delivers training for the selected projects and their creators once they’re chosen through the STORYHIVE process. The public chooses 15 projects from content creators in British Columbia and 15 from Alberta. |

The series follows Benjamin Aubergine who has the worst job in the world: delivering hug-o-grams. Projects from Merit Jensen Carr, Christine Falco get Rogers Documentary Fund support Posted: 06 Oct 2016 03:15 PM PDT Congratulations to the NSI grads who received funding as part of Rogers Group of Funds recent announcement. Ice Forest: Secret World of the Boreal produced by Merit Jensen Carr (NSI Global Marketing) and Ziva Postec produced by Christine Falco (NSI Drama Prize) both received funding from the Rogers Documentary Fund. The Rogers Documentary and Cable Network Fund has distributed more than $1.9 million across 29 English and French-language TV projects. |
TELUS STORYHIVE announces 30 female-directed digital shorts finalists Posted: 06 Oct 2016 12:57 PM PDT Congratulations to the 30 finalists chosen for the STORYHIVE Digital Shorts female director edition. NSI delivers training for the selected projects and their creators once they’re chosen through the STORYHIVE process. The public chooses 15 projects from content creators in British Columbia and 15 from Alberta. Each of the 30 finalists receive a $10K production grant, training and mentoring from seasoned NSI team members, and distribution on TELUS Optik™ TV On Demand. In Plainview from Matt Watterworth and Scott Westby begins production Posted: 06 Oct 2016 08:56 AM PDT In Plainview is a new crime thriller from two generations of NSI Features First grads: Matt Watterworth directs, Scott Westby produces, and Robert Cuffley and Jason Long have been brought on to mentor the team and assist with production. Robert is assisting officially as an executive producer and is helping with scheduling, casting, script and general pre-production. Jason is the story editor and is also helping with casting and co-producing. In Plainview was a finalist in the 2016-17 Telefilm Micro-Budget Production Program. |
