Danishka Esterhazy’s new short The Singing Bones premieres at Culver City Film Fest

The Singing Bones, a new short from director Danishka Esterhazy (NSI Drama Prize, NSI Features First), has its world premiere at the Culver City Film Fest in LA on December 8.

The film is based on the story Bones from the 2001 short story collection entitled The Rose and The Beast: Fairy Tales Retold by internationally acclaimed author Francesca Lia Block.

The Canadian premiere of The Singing Bones takes place in Winnipeg in January 2017.

Deepa Mehta to exec produce NSI Features First project Little Kings

Congratulations to Dusty Mancinelli and Harry Cherniak whose NSI Features First-developed project Little Kings has added Deepa Mehta as executive producer, alongside her business partner David Hamilton.

Little Kings is about two brothers with a volatile relationship who venture to a small mining town with the intention of tracking down and claiming the reward money for finding a violent robber.

The project was part of the Whistler Film Festival’s Feature Project Lab and Praxis Screenwriters Lab, as well as developed through NSI’s Features First Program.
