Farpoint Films to begin development on drama Critical from Jeffrey John Eyamie

Farpoint Films‘ John Barnard, Chris Charney and Kyle Bornais (all NSI Features First) have optioned one-hour medical drama Critical from Winnipeg writer Jeffrey John Eyamie (NSI Totally Television).

Critical explores the world of the healthcare system through the eyes of Chloe, who leads a medical investigation task force in Toronto.

In a news release, Kyle said that “we’re excited to work with Jeff on Critical. He’s got a unique voice and has created an exciting world.” Jeffrey added, “I’m thrilled to be working with a progressive and motivated company like Farpoint.”

Farpoint has plans to package the show and pitch it to US networks.

Support Weengushk Film Institute GoFundMe campaign for student film production

Weengushk Film Institute (WFI) is seeking community donations to support upcoming student film production. Shirley Cheechoo (NSI Storytellers, Telefilm Spark Plug Program) is executive/artistic director at WFI.

They’ve launched a GoFundMe campaign to help them reach their fundraising goal of $40K.

WFI’s goal is to train, develop, guide and mentor young emerging artists to develop their creative skills and attain a level of professionalism that promotes self-sustainability in a competitive market.

With a small budget for their films, students at WFI are asking the community for as much help as possible. To date, students at WFI are still looking for locations to shoot as well as wardrobe, hair products, makeup essentials and food to feed their cast and crew.

It’s Not My Fault and I Don’t Care Anyway premieres March 9 in Edmonton

In advance of the worldwide release of It’s Not My Fault and I Don’t Care Anyway from producers Camille Beaudoin (NSI Totally Television, NSI Features First) and Eric Rebalkin (NSI Business for Producers) and writer/director Chris Craddock (NSI Features First), Mosaic Entertainment is proud to announce the film’s Edmonton premiere to its hometown friends and fans.

The film screens on March 9 at at 7 p.m. at Edmonton’s Metro Cinema. Writer/director Chris and actor Jesse Lipscombe will be in attendance.

In It’s Not My Fault and I Don’t Care Anyway, a rich and famous self-help guru’s controversial philosophy of extreme selfishness is put to the ultimate test when his only daughter is kidnapped and held for ransom.
