Call for applications: CMPA’s International Co-Production Accelerator Program with Jan Miller

The Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA) is now accepting applications for their inaugural International Co-Production Accelerator Program (ICAP).

The program features renowned international consultant and National Screen Institute co-founder Jan Miller.

ICAP will facilitate international cooperation between Canadian and international companies for the creation of feature films and drama series. This initiative is meant to create project partnerships and long-lasting business relationships between Canadian and international production companies.

The program has two separate streams: the feature film stream and the drama series stream. Each stream will host virtual masterclasses with experts in the international production arena, content development, case studies, pitching and networking opportunities with international producers.

The program emphasizes personalized, tailored support for each participant. All masterclasses, panels and presentations will be designed to advance projects and provide resources to all participants.

Eight Canadian, mid-level producers will be selected for each stream.

Application deadline in July 30. Apply now!

Aubrey Arnason hosts new DGC podcast featuring NSI alumni

Aubrey Arnason (NSI Totally Television) is the host of the new Directors Guild of Canada (DGC) podcast.

The DGC Podcast is a platform for filmmakers to discuss their craft. Every episode features a conversation between film industry peers breaking down the method and process behind their work.

Director/producer Aubrey Arnason speaks with guests such as Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers (NSI IndigiDocs program manager and director advisor), Steve J. Adams and Sean Horlor (both TELUS STORYHIVE), Shane Belcourt (NSI Totally Television, Featuring Aboriginal Stories Program) and more.

Ryan Cooper, Mayumi Yoshida selected for 2021 WarnerMedia Access x Canadian Academy Writers Program

Congratulations to Ryan Cooper (NSI IndigiDocs, CBC New Indigenous Voices) and Mayumi Yoshida (TELUS STORYHIVE) who were selected for the inaugural 2021 WarnerMedia Access x Canadian Academy Writers Program cohort.

The WarnerMedia Access x Canadian Academy Writers Program is a talent activation initiative focused on experienced Canadian writers from underrepresented communities.

The program aims to build an inclusive and innovative industry by focusing on increasing representation in front of and behind the camera. Selected participants will continue to hone their craft and gain deeper industry knowledge and exposure to WarnerMedia executives, creators and established industry professionals.

Ryan, Mayumi and 16 other storytellers from across Canada were selected to participate.
