Trailer released for Alex Sangha’s Emergence: Out of the Shadows; register for free virtual screening of the full film

Emergence: Out of the Shadows

A trailer has just been released for Alex Sangha’s new LGBTQ documentary, Emergence: Out of the Shadows, developed through NSI Business for Producers.

The documentary, directed by Vinay Giridhar, follows Kayden, Jag and Amar as they come out to their conservative, South Asian families. The film offers comfort, compassion and inspiration to individuals and communities struggling with acceptance.

The documentary film festival KDocsFF is hosting a free virtual screening of the film followed by a live panel discussion and Q&A with Alex and his fellow filmmakers on October 11 at 1 p.m. PST. Learn how to get your free tickets for the event now!

Stateless set for theatrical release in Montreal

Stateless

Stateless, produced by Jennifer Holness (NSI Drama Prize, Telefilm Canada Spark Plug Program, NSI Global Marketing) and executive produced by Sudz Sutherland (NSI Totally Television), opens in Montreal theatres starting August 20.

The film follows the grassroots campaign of young attorney Rosa Iris as she challenges electoral corruption and advocates for social justice for the people of Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

Stateless, directed by Haitian-Quebec filmmaker Michèle Stephenson, won the special jury prize for Canadian feature documentary at Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival and was nominated for the best feature documentary at the Canadian Screen Awards.

The film screens in English at Cinéma du Parc and in French at Cinéma du Musée beginning August 20.
