Bayer has asked for a petition for a writ of certiorari with the U.S. Supreme Court and the Supreme Court has asked the Solicitor General to weigh in. A favorable decision for Bayer means it could be exempt from Monsanto’s Roundup lawsuits based on federal regulators' approval of its glyphosate-based herbicide.
#2 Lisinopril Associated with Many Serious Side Effects, Including Angioedema and Liver DamageHouston, TXLisinopril, used to treat hypertension, congestive heart failure and heart attack, is associated with many side effects including liver damage. Beverly was diagnosed with angioedema (which can be life-threatening) as a direct result of Lisinopril, according to her hospital doctors.

#4 Aftermath of a Horrific Amusement Park AccidentLouisville, KY It is not only a parent's worst nightmare but anyone's worst nightmare??"in this case an Amusement Park Accident at a popular theme park that resulted in a 13-year-old girl having both of her feet severed above the ankle. Kaitlyn Lasitter survived, and doctors were able to re-attach her right foot. But they could not save her left, and Kaitlyn now walks with a prosthesis.
#5 Lawsuits Filed Against Abbott for Failure to Warn About Baby Formula RisksDetroit, MI Several lawsuits filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois over the last few weeks claim that Abbott Laboratories, which recalled lots of Similac, Alimentum and EleCare products mid-February, claim the pharma giant failed to warn consumers about the risk of feeding the formula to their babies before purchasing and that Abbott took too long to replace the recalled formulas. Several babies in Minnesota, Ohio and Texas became ill and at least two have died.
#6 Coca-Cola Bottler to Settle ERISA lawsuit for $3.5 MillionCharlotte, NC Large independent bottler, Coca-Cola Consolidated Inc., has agreed to pay $3.5 million to settle a class-action breach of fiduciary duty lawsuit that could have involved thousands of plan participants. The ERISA lawsuit was originally brought in 2020 by two participants in the Coca-Cola Consolidated, Inc. 401k Plan. Cheyenne Jones v. Coca-Cola Consolidated Inc. alleges that the plan’s administrative committee breached its fiduciary duty to participants by failing to monitor unreasonable fees and the poor performance of a risky investment option.
#7 Failure to Reimburse Remote Work Expenses LawsuitsSanta Clara, CA Many employees have worked remotely since the beginning of the pandemic and they have incurred business-related costs that can be reimbursed, according to California labor law. Failure to reimburse such costs have already resulted in remote work expenses lawsuits.
#8 UnitedHealthcare Cites Upcoding Fraud in Lawsuit against Emergency Room Staffing CompanyKnoxville, TN On October 27, 2021, UnitedHealthcare filed a lawsuit against TeamHealth Holdings in the Eastern District of Tennessee. UnitedHealthcare Services v. TeamHealth Holdings, the ER fees lawsuit, charges that TeamHealth routinely overcharged emergency room patients for minor medical needs. UHC, as the administrator for many of those claims, alleges that it overpaid by as much as $100 million. The company claims that TeamHealth’s tactics crossed the line from aggressive profit maximization to outright fraud.
#9 Seroquel Side Effects for the ElderlyPearblossom, CA Seroquel is a neuroleptic indicated for the treatment of bipolar disorder—and like most drugs carries a host of Seroquel side effects, including diabetes, tardive dyskinesia and even birth defects. However, there is a little-known use for Seroquel off-label that concerned the daughter of one Alzheimer's patient for whom she was caring.
#10 Maker Of “Neuro” Drinks Agrees To Pay $500,000 In Fines and Restitution Neurobrands LLC, the Santa Monica-based maker of the “Neuro” line of drinks, has agreed to a permanent court injunction that requires it to change its marketing practices. The company will also pay $500,000 in penalties and restitution as part of a settlement with local prosecutors.
