Bring Grades of Green to Host an Assembly

If you're looking for a fun and engaging way to inspire students to take action for the planet, Grades of Green is now booking school assemblies! Our interactive games and presentations empower students with the knowledge and tools to make a real environmental impact. Plus, for every assembly booked, we’ll donate 10% of proceeds to support communities rebuilding after the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. Let’s make a difference together by scheduling an assembly and supporting our communities!

Student Spotlight: Empowering Eco-Leaders for Women's History Month

Colbie Stanek, a sophomore from Chattahoochee High School in Georgia, is making a meaningful impact in her community by taking environmental action! In order to reduce food waste, Colbie launched a Smart Waste Community pilot partnership with Lomi to introduce composting alternatives in neighborhoods where traditional composting is restricted. She also collaborates with the City of Alpharetta to repurpose composted waste for local food production. In addition, Colbie dedicates time each week to clean up her local lake to reduce waste in the environment. As a second year Grades of Green Eco-Leader, she has spoken on how much she values the mentorship and support she has received to turn her ideas into action. Looking ahead, she hopes to implement a food waste reduction program at her school and advocate for policies to protect Georgia’s waterways. Through her work, Colbie is proving that young changemakers like her can drive real, lasting environmental change across the globe.

Board Members Making an Impact in the Community

At Grades of Green, we are extremely fortunate to have an incredible board of directors who make all of the work with our students possible. Today, we want to highlight our Vice Chair, Gege Schoenfelder, Chief of Staff to the Chief Legal Officer at S&P Global. Gege first learned about Grades of Green through her role at S&P Global; she was interested in making an impact with the organization because she had a strong interest in sustainability and education in addition to inspiring the next generation of leaders. Throughout her time on the board of directors, Gege has voiced how student’s creativity and passions have been the driving force of tangible positive environmental impacts in communities across the world. Sustainability is a value Gege wants to continue growing and she believes that everyone should look for ways to create lasting impact within their community whether that is giving back to a nonprofit, volunteering, or educating themselves on how they can get involved.

Through Gege’s incredible work, Grades of Green has also had the wonderful opportunity to partner with S&P Global, where sustainability is valued as a core pillar. S&P Global has driven its sustainability goals by providing many resources to corporate entities to uplift sustainability awareness. S&P Global has supported our organization by providing a grant through its PRG Program and presented a check to Grades of Green as the first non-profit ever at the 2025 S&P Global TPSM Conference. Looking forward, our team is excited to continue working with incredible partners like S&P Global so we can continue inspiring the next generation of environmental leaders.

Sparking Student Action with Eco-Lessons

Eco-Lesson of the Month

Grades of Green’s LAUNCH program provides over 40 step-by-step, NGSS aligned Eco-Lessons that include instructions, videos, and resources giving teachers and students the ability to take action on climate issues in classrooms, clubs, after school or in the community. This month, we want to feature our
How to LAUNCH an Eco-Project lesson which was written by our incredible eco-leader, Justin Sather!

Justin makes an incredible impact year after year through a multitude of projects including saving rainforests, reducing plastic pollution, and much more! This year, Justin and his team from Santa Fe Christian are making huge strides to promote sustainable practices directly in their own community. Check out Justin's inspiring lesson and use it as a guide to empower your students to take action, just like our amazing eco-leader!

Rekindling the Seeds of Grades of Green

With 2025 marking the 15th Anniversary of the Verte Annual Gala, our team wants to look back at our roots of when it all started. Today, our team is looking back to Verte 2012 where we had the incredible opportunity to honor Ranae DeSantis, long time supporter of Grades of Green, as our honoree. The event also featured guest appearances from celebrities like Ryan Ochoa and sponsors from Los Angeles County Sanitations District, LAcarGUYWells Fargo, and much more. To everyone who has supported Grades of Green throughout the years, we want to give you a huge thank you for your support! We cannot wait to continue working together towards a greener future and make Verte 2025 an even bigger year!
Thank You to Our 2024 Verte Event Sponsors!
