Tips for Grading

The only thing between you and the end of the term is grading! We have some tips to help you grade more effectively and equitably:

  • This blog from last December on getting through the end-of-semester grading crush remains relevant. One top tip is to grade in community with others because "working alongside other teachers can help us to establish healthy grading practices." The post also gives best practices for what to do before and once assignments are turned in.
  • New research shows how grading fatigue affects students at the end of the alphabet, so be sure to build in some breaks while you grade.

As we work towards optimal participation in our educational research projects, many groups seek guidance about the most effective “carrots” when recruiting students. In addition to the efficacy of such incentives, there are important parallel considerations for research ethics and the implications of incentives for student financial aid and tax liabilities. No registration required. Learn more >

Miles with Lile

Every month we share the latest adventures of Lile the crocodile, LILE's unofficial mascot.

Ying Xiong stands presenting at the front of the room while Lile the crocodile watches.

Lile accompanied Ying Xiong to Duke Kunshan University to help facilitate the IGHE Faculty Working Group Retreat on Education and Learning in China. They also (safely!) viewed the partial eclipse from the parking lot of our office space off of 9th Street.
