The Ojai Valley Museum invites you to a free opening reception to view their newest exhibition, Legacy: Krishnamurti and Ojai, Friday, November 15th from 5:30-7-30 p.m. This exhibit explores the life of Jiddu Krishnamurti and especially the profound effect he had on the Ojai Valley. This exhibition will run until January 19, 2020.

Krishnamurti came to Ojai as the appointed World Teacher of the Theosophical Society. After he famously renounced the mantle of World Teacher, he continued to lecture and write books throughout his life. Thousands attended his annual talks in the Oak Grove.

Many people interested in his teachings moved to the Ojai Valley and had a vast impact on the local community. This exhibition looks at the man, but even more so, at the influence that he had on Ojai. The exhibition takes a broad view. It highlights Ojai institutions and organizations Krishnamurti founded and those founded by Annie Besant and the Theosophical Society. It also includes things created by Krishnamurtiâs admirers after they settled in the valley.

The Ojai Valley Museum is located at 130 W. Ojai Avenue in Ojai. Free parking is available behind the museum. The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday noon to 4 pm. Group or school tours available by appointment.

On the weekend of December 13-15 we are offering a program called Learning About Ourselves in Observation, facilitated by Jackie McInley who founded and ran an independent Krishnamurti center in France. This program is an invitation to come together as friends and inquire deeply in dialogue and retreat.

The challenge of dialogue is to open a space for a different kind of dynamic learning to unfold. Together, the circle participates in allowing a process of communication that is less burdened with conventional thought and behavior patterns and that has the potential for affectionate, careful listening and direct observation.
