PawSox bill passes in R.I. but Worcester plan remains | |
It has been quiet in Worcester, but privately, officials in the city are still working to bring the Pawtucket Red Sox north to Central Massachusetts. The Rhode Island legislature passed a bill that would provide public funds for a new ballpark, but the governor hasn't signed it, and the team hasn't committed to it.
| BJ's is once again public | |
BJ's Wholesale Club is once again a public company, hitting the stock market Thursday at a time when IPOs from retailers have been few and far between as the industry struggles with shoppers going online. But shares in the Westborough company closed at $22 after an opening at $17 a share.
| Staples, now private, makes an acquisition | |
As BJ's goes public, Staples has gone private. The company is also smaller than it used to be, but it's still making moves. The Framingham office supplier acquired a Tennessee office products dealer, HiTouch Business Services, in its first acquisition since going private last year. HiTouch Business Services will become part of the Staples Business Advantage delivery organization.
