Lege vs. Gov'na: Gov. John Bel Edwards has vetoed three legislative bills focused on LGBTQ+ identity, setting up a likely showdown with the GOP-controlled Legislature, James Finn reports. Several legislators said Friday that lawmakers would likely enter a session to try to override the vetoes. Affirmative action dead: Louisiana university officials say the Supreme Court's Thursday move to end affirmative action in college admissions has little practical effect here, as Louisiana's schools are largely not as selective as Ivy League schools elsewhere, Ballard reports. The exception is Tulane University. Library access limits: Louisiana libraries have until Jan. 1 to adopt policies aimed at limiting children's exposure to sexually explicit materials, under a bill Edwards has signed into law.
